Yesterday, it was announced that my boy Drew Miller signed with the Wings for one year at $650k.
Today, the news is that my other boy, Patrick Eaves - he of the Magical! SamHair, has also signed with Detroit for one year at $750k.
Two excellent players at bargain rates. I am SOOOOO geeked!! *bounces*
Now Kenny just needs to wrap up a few more loose ends.
While I am thrilled that two of my boys have been signed, my glee is tempered by the sad news that former Red Wing Bob Probert passed away on Monday. He was only 45, and leaves behind a family, friends, and many, many fans.
Probie was drafted by Detroit in 1983 and played for us for nine seasons. He played beside Joey Kocur from 1984 - 1990. Together, the two enforcers were known as The Bruise Brothers. Probie also played with the Chicago Blackhawks from 1985 until he retired in 2002.
I won't list all his stats as there are plenty of hockey blogs out there already doing so, but I will say this: dude was an asskicker, but he was more than just an enforcer. He was a valued player on the Wings roster. He always had his teammates' backs.
My condolences to the Probert Family.
