*Hot damn! Johan "The Mule" Franzen's 6 point night, which included a natural hat trick, sets a new franchise record for points scored in a single Playoff game. Norm Ullman and Stevie Y were tied with the previous record at 5 points each.
*He also tied Carl Liscombe (1945) and Ted Lindsay (1955) for the team record for goals in a single playoff game.
*Mule's hat trick came in a span of 3:26 in the first period.
*There was a fantastic shot of Zata hugging Mule after his 4th goal. I hope somebody somewhere posts it. It was adorable!
*The Wings were up 5 - 0 in the first period.
*They scored 6 unanswered in the first 23:05 of the game.
*Nabby allowed 5 goals on 9 shots and was replaced by Greiss to start the second period.
*My boy Jonny played 27:33, the most of any Wing last night. Actually, he played more than anyone on either team!
*It pains me to write this, but Bertiebutt had a great game. He had 5 points on the night and made a great pass to Franzen that lead to Mule's second goal.
*44 also had an awesome cross-ice pass to set up Rafalski's goal.
*Stuey got asschecked into the boards by Rob Blake and had to leave the game. Babs is hopeful that he'll be able to go for Game 6.
*With veteran zebra Bill McCreary calling the game, the Wings finally got on the good side of the penalties.
*Calls were more even with 15 (49 minutes) to the Sharks and 11 (33 minutes) to the Wings.
*Along with a flurry of penalties in the 3rd, there were three 10-minute misconduct calls made: Draper, Thornton, and Clowe.
*Oh. I see from the box score that Clowe also got an unsportsmanlike in the second period. Douchecanoe.
*Abby and Nichol both got fighting majors.
*Nice to see another of the Black Aces make it onto the ice. Mattias Ritola played 7:45 in his NHL Playoff debut.
