*I'm gonna need some new Wings icons! Especially ones of my favorite boys. *grin*
*Ericsson was out of last night's game. He took part in Wednesday morning's skate, but was having abdomenal pain. The team doctor recommended going to the hospital and my boy was diagnosed with acute appendicitis and underwent emergency surgery. However, he is expected to be back in time for Game 1 on Saturday!
*Cheli looked really good last night...really fast. He ended up playing over 10 minutes and almost scored the game winner, but was denied by Huet. Not bad, Old Man!
*Since Ericsson was out, my boy Meech got some minutes in and played well.
*The Wings outshot the Hawks 46 - 31.
*Both Ozzie and Huet were awesome between the pipes.
*Last night's game was Ozzie's 71st Playoff win. The Dude deserves R-E-S-P-E-C-T!!!!
*The first 2 games of the Finals are back-to-back. Ugh.
*This Wings - Pens Finals repeat is the NHL's first Stanley Cup Finals back-to-back rematch since 1983 and 1984 (Oilers vs Islanders).
*The Red Wings are the first defending Champions to return to the finals since the New Jersey Devils did it in 2001.
*Detroit is trying to become the first team to repeat as Champions since 1997 and 1998. Guess who did it back then? That's right...the DETROIT RED WINGS!
*Helm was freakin' fantastic last night! Dude was all over the ice. He had 4 shots, made 12 hits, dominated during a second period penalty kill, and scored the game-winner. Plus, he's a cutie.
*I honestly have no idea who started the whole Keyboard Cat craze over at YouTube, but I've seen him pop up in various videos all over the place. Helm's PK shift and OT goal are not exempt. So stupid, yet oddly enjoyable.
*Kronwall, Rafalski, and Stuart played over 27 minutes last night. Rafalski clocked in at 29:31.
*Fun Fact: When Cheli was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens, fellow Chicago native Brett Lebda wasn't even born.
*Speaking of Lebda, he had an assist on both goals.
*Celebrity Sighting: Val Kilmer was at the game last night. Apparently, he and Christopher Walken are in Detroit shooting The Irishman. Remember when Val was hot? Now...not so much.
*Vote for game highlights at NHL.com. The only reason I'm linking this is so you can watch the videos of Cleary's and Helm's goals.
*Alas, I shall miss Game 1. I'm going to be in East Lansing for the SKH Benefit Concert. That's okay though because it's for a great cause, I'll get to see some of the Supernatural girls again, and. you know...STEEEEEEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
