Really, Really...Random

I've been meaning to post a blog about Christmas music, but haven't been able to quite think it through yet.  Therefore, I'm offering up these thoughts & occurrences from over the weekend, which you may or may not enjoy reading.  *shrugs*  Consider it a brain-dump.
So come up to the lab and see what's on the slab...

(1)  My mom & went shopping on Friday.  Yes, we had fun.  Yes, I got some of my gift list knocked out.  Yes, like our dear  Rod,  I have trouble NOT purchasing for myself as well!  What?!?!?!  I only bought some candles!  Some notecards...
Some Spongebob ornaments (for the tree I'm NOT putting up this year)...

About 3 dozen Yankee Candle tarts...

Oh yeah...4 new lotions from Bath & Body Works (dude, it was the buy 3 get 1 free sale!).

(2)  I finally watched 2 of the 3 Netflix movies that have been sitting on my entertainment center for (no lie) 2 months!  Night of the Lepus & The Watcher.    Everyone should see Lepus once.  I consider it a fine example of  what NOT to do (unless your name is Monty Python, *grin*): fuzzy bunnies, poster-paint blood effects, & bad-bad-BAD dialog!  Janet Leigh & DeForest Kelley should have fired their effing agents.  Here's an example of dialog:  Attention! Attention! Ladies and gentlemen, attention! There is a herd of killer rabbits headed this way and we desperately need your help!   Now seriously, would you listen to that guy or would you throw something at him as you drove away?  I LMA-HO through the whole thing!!!!!  Ahem, if I saw this movie in the $5 bin, I'd probably buy it. *coughsuckercough*

As for The Watcher, it was actually pretty good.   I adore James Spader & Keanu Reaves.  It's nice to see Keanu as the bad guy occasionally.  His "surfer-dude" persona makes that hard to imagine sometimes, but in Watcher & in The Gift, he manages pretty well.  WARNING!  Tangent ahead: I am confessing, right here & now, my favorite Spader movie.  Not high on the Oscar-caliber list, but high on my OMFG!Meter is Supernova.  Spader looks very, very fine in this movie.  Plus, you get Lou Diamond Phillips, also looking very, very fine.  *evilgiggle*

I still have Jam with our beloved JDM left to watch.  I hope it's good.

(3)  On Saturday, I made a huge pot of chicken soup (my grandma's recipe, tweaked a bit).  YUM!!!!

(4)  Also on Saturday: Red Wings 5, Panthers 2.  We got 2 penalty shot chances, but only scored once...Yeah, Valtteri Filppula!  W00T!  He is 2 for 2 on penalty shots this season.  Ozzie was in 'Net for the win (oo-ee-oo, eeoooooh-oh).

(5)  Finally caught up on my tv viewing.  I seriously love Paul Reubens on Pushing Daisies!  He is awesome!  Lee Pace gets cuter with every episode.

(6)  We got about 6 or 7 inches of snow here overnight Saturday-into Sunday.  I probably enjoyed (snow)blowing & (rock)salting more than I should have, but I kept picturing Dean, a la WiaWSNB.

(7)  I had a doctor's appointment Friday morning before the shopping extravaganza commenced.  I managed to lose 13 lbs.  I'm calling it the BloggingAddictionDiet.  W00T!  ETA: I totally forgot to mention that the BAD includes listening to really good music & having the random Dance!Party! in your living room...by yourself.  WHAT?!!!!  Why are you looking at me like that?????

Now, you'll have to excuse me.  I have a pint of Ben & Jerry's Karamel Sutra to scarf down while watching my Wings stomp the Capitals.  Sorry, Mary!

I'm totally kidding...I don't have any ice cream.

... watching my Wings stomp the Capitals. Sorry, Mary!

No need to be sorry, Rap - I don't do sports, so I'm not discomfited when the teams geographically close to me lose. But I'm happy when my friends are made happy by winning!

1) Ha! I love that you bought yourself stuff from Yankee Candle and Bath & Body Works! Congratulate yourself on your amazing predictive skills. :) As my mom promised, I was banned from all candle stores on my shopping trip. :P

2) I totally love both those actors. I constantly get harassed for owning so many of their movies on DVD because one is so dumb and the other is so skeevy. I'll let you guess which is which. :) Yes, I own The Watcher. However, I've never seen Supernova. I seem to remember reading something about a shirtless scene in it?

5) Word and word. I love Paul Reubens in just about anything, I wish he did more stuff. I read he's making a big screen version of Pee Wee's Playhouse. And I swear Lee Pace gets dreamier with every episode. I need to go re-watch my Wonderfalls DVDs and see if he was always that cute.

7) Yay for you! And OMG I do that too! Especially since I got the speaker thingie I can plug my iPod into. I totally make dance playlists with nothing but can't-sit-still songs, and go to town! But only if there are no witnesses. :)

*snort* I cannot believe that I didn't already have a Lou icon!!!!

You MUST see Supernova! I insist upon it! Both of them are so totally buff, it's almost scary! Shirtless...oh my YES!!!

Spader totally rocks, but I can't stand Boston Legal! How strange is that?!

I dearly love Lou (well, anytime, really) circa Young Guns & Young Guns II. It's the hair. That long-ass hair!!!!! Rrrrrrowrrrrr! *pets*

Pee Wee!!!! I adore Pee Wee's Big Adventure. That movie makes me LMA-HO...no matter what! Dear Lord help me! I totally covet PW's bunny slippers! HAHAHAHA!

I so appreciate you taking the time to complete such an arduous task, just for me. LOL! Okay, now I'll just watch them again for the fun of it! :)

Wonderfalls icon FTW! \o/

Glad I could spare you the torture! ;)

I love them. I got 3 from dignity20s_box.

7 - Good for you!!! (I say around a mouthful of fudge.) Yes, I did make fudge and drink eggnog tonight. Guess what that made me think of? *grins*

Okay I won't admit why I know this, but... Keanu didn't actually agree to do the Watcher and was really pissed off about it because his friend kind of sort of signed his name or something. Friend being the director - he'd done some music vids for Keanu's band, DogStar, and The Watcher was supposedly his first feature film. So, Keanu did it, but refused to promote the film in any way. Hahaha! Maybe it's an urban legend or something but I found it fascinating because he was truly a rat bastard in that flick and I imagined him channeling his rage and discontent into the character. *shivers* I really liked the feel of it, foreshadowing the helicopter scene in the beginning, and I HAD to go out and buy Rob Zombie after I watched it a few times because that song rocks! (Dragula - it was in the club scene at the beginning of The Matrix too, when Neo first meets up with Trinity).

Okay. Totally geeked out now *runs away to hide*

OH except the prezzie thing. laugh my butt off! Yesterday, the store had a buy two get one free sale on bakeware items, so i bought both my parents & my brother this CorningWare French White combination set that I've been coveting for years but was to cheap to buy for myself! Hahahahaha... Does that make me a bad person? ]:)

Koooooooosh! I love Rob Zombie! He's such a horror geek! Dragula is excellent, but I think my fave is Living Dead Girl.

I remember hearing that about Keanu. IMDB mentions it in the trivia section.

1) That happens to me all the time.

2) Giant killer bunnies FTW!!

5) Love Pushing Daisies! Lee Pace really is getting cuter. And Paul Ruebens was great.

7) Yay, you!

7) Awesome!! :)

1. I always buy stuff for myself when Christmas shopping. It's one of the benefits to having a December birthday - I have birthday money in my pocket while I'm out looking for gifts.

2. Jam is one of my Netflix movies too. I've had it for over a month, I'm not sure why I haven't watched it yet. Any day now.

5. Isn't Lee Pace awesome? It wasn't until the final few episodes of Wonderfalls that I even noticed him, then when I saw he was going to be on Pushing Daisies I was excited. I haven't seen either of the episodes with Paul Reubens yet, as my DVR didn't catch the first one for some reason and I didn't want to watch the second one until I'd caught up.

1. Guilty. I just bought Witch's Canyon while out Christmas shopping.

2. I will have to rent Watcher.

3. Homemade chicken soup is comfort food.

5. I don't know why I'm not watching Pushing Daisies.

6. Awesome! Woot!
I love solo random Dance!Parties! *Goes off to have one*

You know, I bought Witch's Canyon a couple of weeks ago, but I had trouble starting it for the dumbest reason. The book takes place before Croatoan, and the first chapter has them looking at the Grand Canyon. At the end of Croatoan, Dean says that they've never been to the Grand Canyon.

Anyhow, it took me a couple of weeks to get over that. I have started reading now.

So far I'm a little iffy on some of the characterizations.

Is it just me, or does it seem like they always seem to paint Dean as kinda dumb?
