Quick drive-by post because I'm at my parents' house for a small family bbq (yay).

Driving the Miata on the way here, I came across a gentleman also driving a Miata. Car discussion ensues at each red light and we pace each other for about 10 miles before Mr. Merlot Mica (his paint color) had to split. The car looked good and the dude was kinda cute.

Guess what?! I'm not in jail! Amazing, I know.

Holy Hell, am I tired. With last week being the STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS and then the convention, I probably got about 15 hours of sleep...all week. My flight was delayed so I got back a little later than expected last night. Now I'm at work, trying to not give myself a concussion from my head hitting the desk.

Also? WTF is up with the weather? When I left on Friday, it was hot and humid. When I got back last night, it was hot and humid and we apparently had some storms roll through. I feel like I'm still Dallas...except that there's no Steve here.

Bummer, that. *contemplates Vegas*

2. Henrik Zetterberg wins the Conn Smythe Trophy for Playoff MVP. He's also responsible for the game-winning goal.

3. Dan Cleary is the first Newfoundlander to win the Cup.

4. Gary Bettman is a ginormous turd, but even he referred to Detroit as HOCKEYTOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.  The Ceremonial Cup Skate: Lidstrom, as Captain, gets the Cup first. He hands off to Dallas Drake.  14 years in the league and this is the first trip to the Finals for "Dally" (HA! Outsiders reference, FTW!). Pretty awesome, eh?!

6. Cheli says he's coming back next year and he dedicates the Cup win to the two Cheli's Chili employees who were murdered last year, and their families.

7. I love Nick Lidstrom and Chris Osgood. And Brian Rafalski, Juri Hudler, Kris Draper...Dan Cleary, Darren McCarty, and Darren Helm. Hellz Bellz, I love pretty much the entire team right now!

8. The Cup weighs 35 lbs. Except when you lift it...just like the commercial says. *grin*

9. Kirk Maltby's daughter, Ella, is ADORABLE!  Like Sammy!Adorable. She's got this HUGE red bow in her hair.

10. This is the Wings' FOURTH Cup in the past 11 years. It's their ELEVENTH in team history.

11. In order to get your name etched on the Cup you need to play at least 41 Regular Season games (and have to still be on the team when they win the Cup) or 1 Playoff game. Or, the team can petition to get your name on it. For example:  Vladimir Konstantinov, whose career was cut short after a car accident in 1997, had his name engraved on the Stanley Cup after the Wings defended their title in 1998. Detroit received special permission from the NHL to do so.

12. Brett Lebda is seriously adorable.

13. Filppula had another highlight reel goal in the 2nd period. *pets him*

This was the fifth longest game in Stanley Cup Finals history.

Once again, the reffing SUCKED, including a phantom tripping call on Datsyuk in the 1st period (the dude freakin' fell down on his own!) and two bullshit "goalie interference" calls on the Wings in OT. Even the commentators thought those calls were ridiculous!

Fleury is the reason why the Pens are still in this thing. He played his ass off once again, facing 58 shots. Both he and Ozzie (who faced 32 shots) came up with some phenomenal saves; although I'm sure Ozzie never expected to have to try to make a save on his own teammate. *shoots Death!Glare at Kronwall*

Check of the Game goes to Penguins' forward Hall (I think), who managed to knock one of the zebras on his ass. W00T!!!!

I have to point out this minute-by-minute blog over at NHL.com. I've been reading the last couple of these and this person is pretty damn funny.

Emo-side note: the local news was just interviewing Kris Draper about the game and the sports-chick asked him about the pictures in his stall. He has 2 pictures drawn by his kids hanging up. How freakin' adorable is that? You ROCK, dude!
Also? Kris has revealed that his kids have drawn pics for some of his teammates and they have those hanging up in their stalls!!! God, I love this team!

Now THIS was a freakin' hockey game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As bummed as I am that the Wings lost, I was glad to see the Pens actually show up to play...unlike the first two games.

The reffing still sucks ass...on both sides. Goddamn zebras.

Both Fleury and Ozzie had some fantastic saves.

Also? Could the announcers please stop blowing Crosby (and the Penguins)?! We get it...he's the second coming of Christ. Let's talk about somebody else for a fuckin' change!

1. Kristen Bell is a Red Wings fan! I feel stupid...I didn't know she was from Detroit. On a related note, I have the first 2 discs of Veronica Mars, season 1 at home.  My love for Jason Dohring on Moonlight and a few friends have convinced me to give it a shot. Plus, I liked KB on Heroes.

2. Chris Chelios is...the Godfather?!

3. The Wings play tonight at 8pm EST on NBC. Our local affiliate (WDIV) is having a pre-game show at 7:30, but I don't know if that will be broadcast nationally. I can only hope that the Wings' own Mickey Redmond will be in studio. I dearly miss having Mickey and Ken call the games for FSN (~~Inkblot~~ Engblom blows). CBC will also be broadcasting the game.
   * Side note: Mickey is one of my most favorite people EVER!  Click here for some of the best "Mickeyisms" ever uttered.

4. Supernatural: Rising Son #2 is out today! ~~I'm picking mine up on the way home.~~ Well fuck me sideways. My comics guy didn't get his delivery because of Memorial Day, so now I have to go back and pick up #2 tomorrow!!!!!!! *shakes fist*



5.  My ticket for the Dallas Con arrived yesterday.  The Metallicar is on it! *flails*

It should have been 5 - 0, but the zebras called back the first goal, made by Lidstrom, on a pretty weak "goalie interference" penalty on Holmstrom. It didn't end up mattering, but it's still damn annoying.

1. The bride was gorgeous. The groom was gorgeous. The wedding party was gorgeous.

2. The church was incredible and very Gothic in structure and design (I loved it!).

3.  They had a live band at the reception. They were okay. The music included, but was not limited to: Barry White, AC/DC, Rick Springfield, Journey, the Bee Gees, the Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Led Zeppelin.

4. The country club was beautiful...right on the water. They got some fabulous pictures of the wedding party.

5. FREE BEER!!!!

6. I managed to catch the last 5 minutes of the first period, half of the second period, and ALL of the third period. Also? I was not the only wedding guest sitting down at the bar watching. My mom and a couple of my cousins and/or their spouses were down there as much as I was.

7. I'm exhausted and I have a shitload of catching up to do, including rewatching the parts of the game that I missed. Yes, I taped the game. What?! It's the freakin' STANLEY CUP FINALS, man!

Hello folks! Time for another brain-dump.

Babbling and bitching under the cut. May include finale spoiler-talk and swearing.

1. In case you didn't hear, the DETROIT RED WINGS ARE IN THE STANLEY CUP FINALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *dies from glee*

2. CSI: I can't believe they fucking killed Warrick! I knew Gary Dourdan was having some personal issues and was leaving the show, but did they really have to kill him?! The last time CSI upset me this much was when Miami killed off Tim Speedle (Rory Cochrane). Bastards.

3. I'm still shocked that CBS canceled Moonlight. Fuckers. Even though they left us with more questions, at least we didn't get a ginormous cliffhanger concerning Mick and Beth's relationship. However, I really want to know more about Josef, Coraline, and who the HELL gave Talbot that list of vamps!!

I already signed up for the Amazon alert for when Moonlight becomes available on dvd.

4. I still haven't watched the finale of Bones, but will try to tonight. Did you know that there is a Bones Official Companion book?! Also? The previous episode, The Wannabe in the Weeds? How fucking AWESOME was Tempe blowing away that crazy, stalker-bitch after she (accidentally) shot Booth?!?!?!?! The only downer of that episode (besides poor Booth getting shot) was the fact that they used Far Away, twice. Hello?! Only Chad Kroeger gets to sing that song!!! Everybody else just ruins it!!!!

5. I got my latest issue of EW. It's a "special double issue". You wanna know what's so fucking special about it? The cover and over 50 goddamn pages of it is devoted to Sex and the City because the movie is coming out (they even have an episode guide in the article, for Pete's sake!). That ninety-gazillion page count doesn't even include the full-page product-placement ads (including a giant centerfold ad for Glaceau water)!

Now, no offense to fans of the show, but I never got into it and frankly, never understood the appeal of it. That said, I'm glad those people who are fans of SATC are getting their movie. But, did EW really need to bludgeon us to death with it?

The best part of the whole thing is the 3 page story on Chris Noth.   Chris is pretty much the only reason I'm still watching L&O: CI. *sigh* He'll always be Mike Logan to me.

I can only hope that The X-Files: I Want to Believe gets the same high-profile treatment as the SATC movie.

6. Also in EW: in their tiny EW.com section, they have a pic of JDM! Too bad it's from when he was Denny on that sleazeball medical show. It's for their Famous Finales photo gallery. No, Supernatural isn't in there, but they did manage to pick some good ones!

7. From EW's Hitlist section: Without mentioning Ryan Reynolds, Alanis (Morissette) says she hit "rock bottom" after breakup. She didn't give details, but fans are already poring over the lyrics to her cryptic new single, "Scarlett Johansson Is a Flaming Bag of Ho". HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *snerk*

8. Apparently, a movie adaptation of 21 Jump Street is in the works. NOOOOOOO!!!!! That being said, do you think they'd be able to get The Depp to cameo? I'll bet you dollars to donuts that Chet Marvin Moron gets a part.

9. I cannot believe that ABC canceled Women's Murder Club. Fuckers. Hey, L&O:SVU needs a new ADA. They should snap up Angie Harmon or one of the other talented ladies from WMC.

10. Likewise for FOX canceling New Amsterdam. NA had some weak parts (mostly the Crime of the Week stuff), but I really liked seeing John's memories of his "past" lives. I always liked that on Highlander too. Besides, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was very easy on the eyes and I've liked Zuleikha Robinson ever since The Lone Gunmen.

11. Did I mention that the DETROIT RED WINGS ARE IN THE STANLEY CUP FINALS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
